His grandmother, painter and musician, educates him very early by giving him his first courses of watercolour and piano.

At 12 he is impressed by a pianist's glissando during a family diner in a restaurant. From then the piano lessons he receives are not any more limited to his good education...

Between 16 and 18, Eric Demarsan plays until dawn in the nightclubs of the Place du Tertre, in Montmartre (Paris), along with Bernard Dimey, Marian Kouzan and most of all Michel Magne. He accompanies the singers who work there

Eric Demarsan studies besides the harmony, the counterpoint, the fugue and the composition with prestigious Masters as Julien Falk.

After the military service (opposite picture), he becomes a publishing pianist at Vogue before finding Michel Magne again.

Eric Demarsan leaves then to the Castle of Hérouville, from 1965 till 1967, as assistant of the composer.

There, he learns beside him numerous techniques of orchestration as well as the "threads" to make an orchestra "sounds"

Eric Demarsan works then as orchestrator on the  Angélique  and  Fantômas  movies.

He then compose the score for Cécile Aubry's TV serial  Sébastien Parmi les Hommes .

In 1968, through Bernard Gérard, Eric Demarsan orchestrates for François de Roubaix the score for the movie  Le Samourai  by Jean-Pierre Melville, the TV serial  Les Chevaliers du Ciel  by François Villiers as well as the movie  Diaboliquement Votre  by Julien Duvivier.

Jean-Pierre Melville asks him to write the score for  L'Armée des Ombres  in 1969 then, next year, the score for  Le Cercle Rouge , within fortnight, after the score by Michel Legrand was rejected.

The same year, he composes the album  Pop Symphony  under Jason Havelock's pen name.

Eric Demarsan works then with numerous film directors of whom Jean-Pierre Mocky (7 times, including  L'Ibis Rouge ), Christian Gion (3 times), Costa-Gavras ( Section Spéciale ) and Patrice Leconte ( Les Spécialistes  ... and some commercials).

He also composed for the TV, in particular for  La Dernière Fête  (1996) by
Pierre Granier-Deferre and  Clarissa  (1998) by Jacques Deray.

Now, he works regularly with Hervé Hadmar :  Les Oubliées  (2008) [beside picture],  Pigalle, la Nuit  (2009),  Signature  (2011),  Les Témoins  (2014),  Au-delà des Murs  (2016),  Les Témoins, saison 2  (2017) and  Romance  (2020).

Eric Demarsan also composed the music of the sound and light show "So Blois is told you" for the Castle of Blois (France), the "Vendean Suite for Choir and Orchestra" for the Water Theater of the Puy du Fou park (France) as well as the scenography for La Mine Bleue, an old mine of slate, near Angers (France).

He came back to the cinema at the beginning of 2000s with Guillaume Nicloux on  Une Affaire Privée  (A Private Affair) in 2001,  Cette Femme Là  (That Woman) in 2003 and  Le Concile de Pierre  (The Stone Council) in 2006 and then worked again with him in 2012 for the TV movie  L' Affaire Gordji  and the e-cinema movie  The End  (2016).
